Need to spruce up the place?

Don't forget the mulch.

A nice two to three-inch layer of mulch around your trees and in plant beds helps retain moisture and limits weed growth. In winter, mulch acts like a blanket for the soil and roots when it gets chilly. And cozy plants are happy plants. Plus, mulched beds make any landscape look better - just ask the shrubs.

 
Drought conditions receding
The downpour we received Tuesday, Jan. 24 definitely put a dent in the drought here in North Texas, with a large part of our region now classified as abnormally dry.  Still, approximately 60 percent of the state is in an extreme or exceptional drought.
